Why buy a Frame-less Shower Enclosures from Superior Door & Glass?
Outside of craftmanship the most important part of your new enclosure will be the hinges, the only working part of the enclosure that is used every time you step in and out of your shower. For this reason we use only CHMI hinges and the one we depend on is the 200 Series .
Consider this: A standard 3/8" frame-less door is 28” x 80” and weighs 80 lbs. plus the handle. Most companies use CR Laurence hinges which are rated (with 2 Hinges) not to exceed 80 lbs or 28 inches in width. (Email us to know how a hinge is rated.) Is it smart to install a door that is right at the limit of the hardware used? We don't think so. If any additional weight is applied to the door during use, or if someone happens to throws a wet towel over the top of the door, the glass can slip out of the hinges. This happens more then one might think.
We run into this a few times a year in our service department (please write with your story). Once or twice a month home owners call us asking us to come out and fix a door put in by our competitors. This example shows just how little some companies know about their products. The door that failed was 34" wide and used just two CR Laurence hinges, exceeding their limit by six inches. Not only do we use the best hardware we also understand what the hinge manufacture recommends for their hinges. We (shower door suppliers) are the experts so we need to understand these recommendations, does your shower door supplier?
We would love to earn your business not only because this is what we do for a living, but also because we want you to have the best and safest shower enclosure on the market.
European enclosures are very expensive that's why we believe that the money one saves should be secondary to the money one could loose by going with the lowest bid. Once your new heavy glass shower door slips you will forget about the all the money you saved, replaced by a haunting feeling about all the money you lost.
